...from an extractor fan circuit.

don't know much about how this house is wired but know it's a modern installation.

Firstly, can the supply for an outside light be picked up from an extractor fan supply? (I am suspecting not as they are usually spurs aren't they?)

Secondly, is this Part P declarable?

Whats an extractor fan circuit?

Is it a dedicated supply from the CU, or is it a part of the local lighting or socket circuit.

Is it a kitchen or bathroom extractor (Or somewhere else).

How is the fan switched on and off?

Need more info please.

As I said, I don't know how this has been wired. There is an extractor in a kitchen and one in the bathroom. I am guessing that they are switched extractors.

I wouldn't have thought they are on dedicated circuits unless the regs dictate that they should be.

You called it an extractor fan circuit hence RF's reply.

Right, lets try again.

What are you wanting to do exactly?

I take it you are wanting to install a new external light?

Why the question about the fan circuits?

Yes, want an outside light. (Not me personally- posting on behalf of family member)

Seems to be an afterthought after all carpets down etc.
Asking about a fan as this is the only electrical appliance/socket etc on back wall and doesn't want to run wires along walls etc.

If I look at it myself, I might find an alternative but for now, testing the water about picking up from a fan switch.
