Is this okay if the ceiling is being overboarded?

Hi,

I'm having this ceiling overboarded later on this week.

I just wanted to know if this is okay for the boards to go directly on or if I should scrape the paper too. I'd initially planned to leave the paper on completely but when I was pulling the coving down the top layer of paper started pulling off with it so I pulled all the white paper off.

Thoughts please?

I would say leave it on other than a light sanding and overboard it as it will make no difference to the finish on the new boards.
