Is this the end of my washing machine?

My fiance noticed an horrible smell in the cupboard where the washer is plugged in. At the time it was off and everything was cold, put in another load and the smell got worse. When I had a look the plug was hot and I found the fuse as in the photo. The plug was hot, the socket is a bit scorched but the wire wasn't hot away from the plug.

I'm guessing it's time for a new washer.

Before you do.....try fitting a quality MK plug - maybe the fuse was a little slack on that one!
John :)

Yes, looks like the fuse clip is a loose fit. Change the plug as John says before doing anything else. A faulty machine would have blown the fuse.

Cheers, that's good to hear. I've changed the socket as it was showing heat damage. That plug is 13 years old as it's the one the washer came with so I'll stick a new one on.

Changed the plug. Just a cheap one from wicks at the moment, only place I could get to, but I'll get a better one asap. Run the machine and the plug stayed cold. So good stuff, cost a plug instead of a new washer.

Thanks for your help
