I am no expert but want to re tile my shower. The house is only 4 years old and has what I believe to be a direct heating system- it has no loft tank and a small white and red cylinder in the airing cupboard. I just want to isolate the shower but cannot find any shut off valves? Is it just that they have not been fitted or is there another way of stopping the flow? thanks for any advice.

Isolator valve may well be under the flooboard somewhere within the local vicinity. Failing that, then turning off the mains supply will do the trick - and you can get some blanking plugs for the pipework while you're working on it. If you can, it may well be worth your while installing some isolators in a suitable position for future reference.
