thanks for your reply...

what are the ext - and ext+ connections ?

Thanks,

Richard

checked and the microswitch is definately depressed... ie it should not be sending a tamper alert

I spent ages last night trying to find the installation instructions for your bell (Guardall, ADE, GE 'Level') but could only find some obscure Italian documents... There must be more with your unit.

The tamper line should be held to 0V (negative) by the bell and released to 'float' when the tamper is activated. Try and use your multimeter and documentation to make this happen. You can use the meter to check the voltage on the TR terminal w.r.t. 0V whilst you operate the tamper switch.

I think sparkymarka wiring suggestion is correct

the Italian manual makes reference to a built in 4k7 resistor as the eol.

I am guessing this is what we see coming back from the tamper return of the bell?

that Italian manual is a bit difficult to read

Because it's a GE or aritech as most of us know it , I think the 470r is when you use aritech panels they had some strange bell connections ! I tried to find some install details but it just came up with data sheets....

Yup, I read that one too but it didn't seem to help. None of the diagrams use the EXT- terminal, two of them strap BHO (Bell Hold-Off?) to 0V and one switches it to 0V to ring. For the latter, I can't work out how the bell has a -ve to charge the battery - unless it's back-fed from the strobe trigger!?! Similarly, the top two diagrams have no permanent +ve supply (assuming that NO is really normally open...

Baffling... That's why I said that there must be more documentation with the bell

Hi, Sorry for the delay in getting back to you all...

Thanks to all for all your help.

I have uploaded pics of the bell box itself and found some documentation that came with the bell box...

I am suspecting the 4k7 EOL resistor is the culprit... but that is just a guess...
