I have been having the usual issue with my Potterton combi boiler. It's been loosing preassure. The unusual part is that it seems loose preassure within one hour and goes to zero (slightly below zero). The boiler continues to work at that preassure without any issues (it been running like this for months). When it is operating the preassure is normal i.e. between 1.5 and 2.5 Bar. It some times almost touches 2.7 and when cold it is zero.

I have checked to see any leaks and like every one else I would like to think there are no leaks, I can hear a dripping sound when the boiler has been operating for 10 mins (when running hot water or the radiators) but no dampness. I have also checked to see if the boiler dumps water or steam from the relief valve. I could find no evidence.

Does anyone have any idea what's wrong with it ? is it a leak ?
If it is a leak how can it loose all preassure and go to zero in 30 mins.

Search FAQ's on how to check expansion vessel.

Unfortunately though, yours is one that is used for the boiler pre-heat as well.
