Issue with rad trv

Oh I know this now

Came on recommendation from a friend as well

Was a cheap job so what can you really expect!!

Now to the fun part!

Is there a certain procedure to draining and refilling my combi which is (wait for it) a gloworm 24cxi

Turn off combi
Attach hose to drain cock and place other end outside (into a gully)
Open drain cock
Open air vent on highest radiator
Have a cup of tea
Open all other air vent until water stops coming out of end of hose.
Start playing being a plumber and remove trv and replace at other end of rad.

Cheers Andy

What about the refill? Just open filling loop?

Close all air vents
Open filling loop and pressurise to 1.5bar
Go and bleed all rads and keep topping up to keep to 1.5 bar
Turn on heating for 15mins then turn off and re-bleed.
Check for leaks
If all OK, then drain down again and apply inhibitor and refill the system again as above.

Now you can have a beer.

Thanks buddy

Think I'm armed with the right info and have a mental map how to tackle this so hopefully issues should be minimal

Last question is there any tips to appropriately dry a horizontal pipe ready for re fit (solder) or is it the old fashion rag job

As I mentioned yesterday, if you can undo the TRV and drain down the radiator at that end, and unclip the pipe, you might have enough room if you push the pipe back to the wall.
