It's not often one can agree with Michael O'Leary, but...

Hitler said "You will be dead soon but we have your children".

The EU is the continuation of Nazi Germany by more peaceful means.
The EU is in its 'end times'.
The parallels can't be clearer.
Napoleon tried to build a European superstate, England bankrolled 5 separate coalitions to bring Napoleon down , they all failed, Napoleon had the best army in Europe, he then made a fatal mistake when he decided to invade Russia.
Fast forward to the arrival of Hitler, he like Napoleon wanted to dominate Europe, his Nazi war machine overran Europe easily, he to thought it would be a good idea to invade Russia, big mistake, like Napoleon, he wasn't just defeated, he was annihilated.
Sadly the EU seem determined on the same trajectory of disaster, they are even raiding their own so called 'peace fund' to send artillery shells to Ukraine.
This won't end well for all concerned.

Explain how being a member of the EU would have changed that?

What is your guess based on? Are there some EU mechanisms that were no longer at our disposal?

BTW the record breaking year for Asylum claims in the UK was almost 20 years before we left the EU.

That's interesting; the biggest fall in asylum seekers ocurred after the "Fast-track asylum applications" was introduced.
And then began rising again after the Syrian war began. A war the UK was instrumental in starting.

People with skills, expertise, and money to invest can apply and get visas without a problem. The same applies to UK citizens wishing to work in the EU.
