It's only a matter of time...

So they’ll grow their economies while they have a shortage if labour in all sectors eh? Tell us how that works.
Could it be that they have nationals who are interested in doing something other* than sitting on their arises playing games?

*Why aren't kids interested in Meccano any more?** Why don't schools teach practical skills like woodwork or metalwork. Why does UK made tools fair so badly (except for very specialised tools/machines)?
How many kids 'play' with Raspberry Pi's and actually do something useful with them?

** Stepson was given 2 identical Meccano sets for his 10th birthday - took him several days to realise he could make bigger models by using parts from both sets, His sister worked that out.

Because they got rid of the craft workshops and replaced them with academic classrooms. There are virtually no schools that offer vocational subjects unless they send the students off-site.

Thought they could get cheap labour on tap from likes of Poland.
Eu for you, chickens coming home to roost.

For once I have to agree with you...

I got a good academic qualification, but am grateful for the practical module at a neighbouring tech college which has probably been of more use in the real world.

Unfortunately, mainstream schools get around £7,000 per pupil. They can't afford my charges. The people I deal with get a MINIMUM of £90k per pupil as they are given 1 to 1 tutoring, sometimes 2 to 1 tutoring because they can be a bit of a handful so the mainstream kids miss out, again, because they are judged not to need off-site vocational training. That is happening all over the country.

30+yrs ago I built a Ron Champion 'Locost' car from his book "Build Your Own Sportscar For As Little As £250". A mate owns it now & it's still a work in progress. Don't be fooled, you ain't going to build one for £250, but on the journey I met a few who came close, including a hero of mine & yours formerly F1 driver.

After building it, and very much suffering the euphoria of "I made that" I had a vision of a local youth club type place where once or twice a week you could gather the local yobs together to experience the magic of Ron Champions vision. I had the book, the experience of having built one, the premises, the £money & the will.

Then the 'nay sayers' became involved, do you know that you cannot possibly allow a 14yr old access to a bench grinder, let alone a weapon of mass destruction like a mig welder . . . . . . !

And you listened to them? Pftt! They can do it nowdays under the right supervision so I’m pretty sure you could have done it 30 years ago.
