Johnson U-turns on herd policy

Do you realy believe that anyone that produces an effective vaccine would keep its construction secret and prioritise its own use?
Secret no, rinse it for cash yes.

There's only so much vaccine manufacturing capacity in the world and a lot of it is bespoke for each vaccine. Building up the lines to provide enough for the entire world quickly will mean they're overbuilding for normal use and there'll be a lot of waste. So instead of building enough to pump it out in a month it'll be built to produce it over a longer time, so less wasted cash but longer waits for everyone to be vaccinated.

Any vaccines developed/produced in a country will undoubtedly be prioritized for their own use first.

We're not part of the EU, or part of Schegen, so we'll be a lower priority for any EU made vaccines.

If we produce any then we'll give ourselves a higher priority, but whilst we have a good sized pharma industry I doubt it's as big as the entire rest of the EU. My bet is that Brexit will slow our supply of vaccines compared to say France.

We're also out of the approval process so the MCHRA will need to certify the vaccine, but we'll probably just take the EU or USs word for their certification rather than hold things up.

Unfortunately you are correct.

Brexit means coronavirus vaccine will be slower to reach the UK
And it will cost more here because of the UK pulling out of the European Medicines Agency on 30 December

Have no wish to be vaccinated and I won't be. So don't give a hoot.
I thought they had no vaccine?

I would have thought that an oxygen mask would help people with breathing difficulties but maybe it needs force to go with it. Cat scans seem to fit in somewhere as well.

I'm a little suspicious about the lack of interviews of people who have recovered. That's since I saw one and thought so you call that recovered.

Shortly 70's plus are asked to isolate themselves. ;) I'm one just so you can all think I'm senile. :) No where near it yet. My wife is too. Thanks to a simple nose operation some years ago I am also branded with copd. For various reason total isolation for a long period is nigh on impossible.

So, OOI, as the UK is also researching potential vaccines, what, if of course we come up with a viable one, do you think we should do?

Use it as a bargaining chip in the Brexit negotiations ;)

And don't give it to the Russians until they hand over them blokes who shot down that air liner over Ukraine and them 2 blokes who were involved in that Salisbury caper

Having spoken to someone in the know today, ventilation requires intubation (pipe down the airway), which requires sedation.
Apparently, anaesthetic is in shorter supply than the ventilators....
