Advice please for my new kitchen installation. The worktops are solid wood, walnut butcher block. I have 2 corners to make, and the choice is butt join or mitre join. I think the mitre joint will be the neatest finish and would prefer this. Is there any reason that the butt joint would be the choice, and is there any risk in making a mitre joint in the solid worktop? I will be employing the services of a joiner to install the worktops.

If there isn't a radius on the worktop then I would butt join. I did this on my solid wood worktop. No reason why a butt join won't look neat (y)

When you say mitre joint, do you mean in the style of a radiused edge worktop, or a 45degree angle joint. A but joint is the more normal method, but it sometimes depends on where the support bars are under the units.
