Yes where there was a load over it, if it was in open ground it laid in the dirt the same as clay.
Joints if you're interested was x tapers that you smacked together with a lump of wood.
Hi, just a quick post to say thanks for everyone's help.
It was the nastiest, toughest and most horrible job I've ever had to do, and I hope I never have to do another like it
Got it done in the end though, with much help from my dad mixing and shifting concrete.
The pipe was easy to cut with a hand saw, and I used some stubs of pvc pipe with rubber collars to make the join.
