I need to install joist hangers for ground floor joists. I understand that the jh have to sit on whole blocks, however, this is not possible due to the fact that they will be sited just above dpc. What options do I have. Also the jh will fall below dpc, I guess that some dpc behind them will be suitable for approval by bco. Any advice would be welcome.

There's no problem with the joist hangers falling below the dpc, what's more important is that the joist hangers rest above or on the dpc. As the joist hangers are made of steel any moisture coming through the wall will run down the back of the joist hanger before coming into contact with the timber joist.

With regard to spacing of the joist hangers, put them where you need the joists to be to support the floor above - there is no need to sit the joist hangers on full blocks.

Regards
