Hi, a question regards setting out velux windows on a new extension roof, basically do the velux's have to be spaced out so that the tiles fit as either a full or half tile to the edges of the velux. Obviously to do this then the joists have to be placed to reflect this exact positioning. Therefore the roof can't just be divided to have the windows spaced equally. ( I ve got a 8.3m wide extension with 3 velux windows of 140x94cm). Does this make sense ??

strictly speak yes they should be positioned to suit tile best cut. and there should be no cut tiles under the velux either.
if you have a slate roof you have more flexibilty.
having said that, you may be able to set the roof out given good cut tiles.

You may get lucky with one Velux or maybe two.
But setting out the rafters and trimmers based upon multiple Veluxes having zero awkward cuts up BOTH sides of the Velux - dream on. You will wish you have never started such an endeavour especially when it comes to fixing the plaster-boards.

Correct. It would not hurt to have a wee bit of sideways play when setting out the trimming rafters - say 50mm either way. But make sure that this does not affect the setting out of the roof structurally.
Essentially the roof lights need to be positioned where you need them and in their optimum position - light wise.
Yes, but they don't include a chapter that deals with how to avoid slim (up the sides) cuts.
