Kahrs Wood Floor (15mm cornwall), expansion gaps or not....

Am laying the above. The instructions do not give any indication that there is a need for expansion gaps, but most forums indicate there should be.

I have a few areas where I could do with butting up (within a few mm), for example aournd some door frames, where it is near on impossible to cut the frame as it is set into the concrete floor.

Is this going to cause me any great problems and what is the likely affect of expansion - lifting floor, squeking?

Read this: Gaps! They are there for a very good reason! and work accordingly. You're asking for trouble any other way

ok thanks, useful but not what I wanted to hear!

Most skirting board is 9mm thick, almost all kahrs I have seen laid has smaller gaps to the wall as its only the skirting board covering it, so is any gap ok or does it really need to be 10mm min, I really don't want to get into laying beading.

i'm just a novice in this flooring lark, but when i was planning the expansion gap in my room, i hacked off the bottom 4 inches of plaster and screwed a batten at this height and just above where my flooring would be so i had 20mm plus the thickness of the skirting to work with. I did re-plaster the whole room mind
