Hi all, I have a house which has had tarmac laid around the outside with an 8" wide gully cut to allow the air bricks to breathe. The problem I have is that weeds are continually growing in the gully. How can I permanantly get rid of this problem?
Chris.

Never permanantly get rid of them unless you remove the ability for them to root. Filling the gully with something like 20-40mm Pebbles will still allow drainage but won't give the weeds a medium to root in.

Another option is, as you can’t fill in the channel with pebbles to allow the air bricks to breath, is to make it sterile; buy some packets of salt and boil them up, pour this over the area. Repeat a few times a week apart, then the channel will become barren.
