Keeping utilities costs down minimum

For pittance though.

I can put effort and time into a lucrative job and make much more. Faffing about to save a few quid - I don't see the reward. Once I am retired, I might consider becoming like one of you.

I'm even worse at the supermarket. I've only had access to a Tesco Clubcard for the last 18 months. Not a clue what anything costs. Meal deals - but I don't want three items ta.
I must be having a good week. I’ve agreed with you twice!!

Time does equal money. I charge £60 per hour plus mark up on parts. I’m nowhere the most expensive in my field.

I can’t spend 3 hours on the phone for a quote.

I shopped around a bit for the new shop for gas and electric, but used a broker.

Try 3 minutes on the internet then. I’m sure you spend more time than that anyway on the internet and you’re not exactly getting paid for that, are you? Are you so special that you have to be getting paid for every minute you’re not asleep?

It’s far more than 3 minutes to get a business quote, that’s what I meant.

Calm down a bit

I appreciate that. Don’t most people use a compare site now ?

Some do, many do not, besides - it is often cheaper to do you own research, because many companies do not subscribe to the compare sites. The compare sites add their own percentage of profit on for the referral too.

The most profitable for the customer way is to use a personal referral. For instance - If I as an Octopus customer, refer a new customer to them, I get £50 off my bill, and the referred customer, also gets £50 off their first bill. So Octopus basically pay out, £100 to acquire a new customer. Then the new customer has the potential to save themselves even more, if they make good use of the tariffs available to them.

My mobile provider, and fibre providers have similar referral schemes.

Ironically the Mrs has just found us a new tv and internet deal. It’s with Sky, £61 a month and it seems to come with everything but paramount.
