My Kenwood integrated dishwasher started reporting E4 recently. I have a maintenance plan and when the engineer came to have a look, he said there was a leak in the sump and that part wasn’t available. I got a tiny contribution towards a new unit and had to foot the bill for the rest of the replacement.

When removing the old unit, I noticed a leak at the back and upon closer inspection, there was a small tear in the water hose at the machine end. Could this have been the cause as opposed to the alleged leak in the sump?

I am inclined to replace this hose and see if it starts working. I’d appreciate your advice on this.

Won't do any harm to try. Water hoses are pretty cheap. It's probaly worth trying to repair the sump while you are there, perhaps some JB Weld would do it.

Do I have to buy one of those right angles hoses or would a straight one suffice for testing?
Also, I’ve moved this into the garage next to my outdoor tap. Is there anyway of providing the water feed from here? I don’t want to plumb in an appliance valve just for testing.
