Need a bit of help. I want to wire some kitchen unit lights in and need to know if it is acceptable to DIY or need to get somenoe in. There will be 4 lights with transformer. Can I simply use an existing plug socket and switch or wire it as a spur from an existing socket and fit a switch.
There is also an immersion switch nearby. The immersion is never used and runs back to 30 amp in the consumer unit. Can this be used to wire in the lights. Any help greatly appreciated.

Someone qualified will be along to correct me shortly but I've been looking into this a lot recently. As far as I am aware if it's plugged in to a standard socket you can do more or less what you like. In a kitchen more or less anything else seems to fall under part P and is notifiable work.

Technically you could run the lights either from the socket or the immersion supply if its suitably fused down etc... but again, it'd be notifiable work.
