Kitchen cupboards above cooker

Hi all,

I am installing a new kitchen, what is the distance from either side of the cooker line that an upper cupboard can be installed?

I think the height of a unit above a cooker is 700mm. As for how close to each side, I'm not sure, but I think you can go pretty close. Is it gas or electric? Best ask this same question in Plumbing and Heating, as they'll know the answer.

I'd be surprised if the answer was anything but immediately adjacent. Go into any kitchen shop and look at the displays. Above the cooker will be an extractor fan, and adjacent will be the next cupboard along.
