My kitchen has been extended about 15yrs ago into half of the double garage.
I know building regs weren't filed.

Its constructed of double skinned stud walls on a block base that supports a suspended floor.

If I approached my local building inspector would he recommend changes or issue a certificate?

Is this sort of construction OK by today's standards?

There's only one way to find out...

Anyhoo, there is nothing wrong with having timber stud walls provided they are adequately supported, that the studs meet minimum centering requirements and are fit for purpose i.e. any loading from above.

Insulation and vapour control are equally important and will be under scrutiny as will the floor insulation and the roof insulation.

I guess if you seek to regularise a 15 year old extension then it would (i' only guessing) need to adhere to standards 15 years hence.

 Ask the mods to move it to planning and building control.
