I am having some alterations done - Knocking 2 rooms together to make one big kitchen.

Do the building regulations state that I must have some sort of mechanical extraction?

There are opening windows in the room and a back door?

The rest of the work is being done to comply with the regulations so I need to get this right to get the completion certificate.

I had to when I did mine, about 1 year ago. My building inspector told me I had to have it above the stove so the cooking steam/smells left the building.

I don't know if it varies from one area to the next. Why don't you ask your building inspector/council?

Speak to your local BCO. But I'm fairly sure that mechanical extraction is a requirement for new kitchens and modified ones.

Yes building control said I need one. It has to be 60l/s

is 230m³/hr enough?

1,000 litres = 1m3; so 60l = 0.06m3

0.06m3 per second * 60 (1 minute) * 60 (1 hour) = 216m3 per hour

230m3 per hour = 63.89 litres per second
