Kitchen Extractor Fan

Thank you all for taking the trouble to reply.

Have done some investigation and could have a lucky escape..... Where the fan can go (presumably anywhere near the hob) is in the area with a loft cupboard so accessible. Can run the ducting to the soffit board easily. There is also a 13 amp socket in that area of the loft for the TV Amplifier so my thinking was this if I have to fit it.

1. Either simply have it on a plug or
2. run a spur to an isolator switch in the kitchen
3.Come off lights to an isolator in the kitchen - Can the isolator be in a cupboard and is there a height restriction .....?

I note folk think that two extractors will compete so I am unlikely to use it. Old fashioned and we open windows when cooking. !!

I am thinking that if I come off the socket that is not a new circuit and should not need re-sign off......

Thanks in anticipation.

I presume I have to have an accessible switch in the Kitchen and yes its a recirculator....

That it was needed electrically was a myth.
Absolutely correct but somewhere along the line it was written "All exposed metalwork" and that is what the dipsticks insisted on. I jokes with one he'd missed the screws on a plastic vent grill... so he tested them and listed them as failures.

Back to the OP, the poster talks about builder - which IIRC changes to domestic dwellings after early 2022 need to comply with Part F of the building regs.

OP - have you reviewed this ? And what work did the builder do

At the end of the day, if you want a completion certificate, you need to act on the requirements of the BCO

Thanks guys……hadn’t thought of a plug-in remote controlled device and yes Murdochat- need BCO sign off….Alas it’s an island with floor now tiled etc….But if I have read correctly as long as the extractor is in the kitchen and I use a more powerful one and vent outside the bco should sign off.

All the best chaps
