This Candy CCE16/2X kitchen extractor hood fan is not working, the lights are still working but the fan itself is not. I know there’s a fair bit of grease on there as you can see but will that be the cause & are there any other things I can check myself to find out why?

Yes the grease will have contaminated the bearings & once cooled probably seized them solid. Stripping cleaning & lubricating motor & bearings may well cure the problem. Ours had very little contamination compared to yours & just wd40 on the bearings was enough to free it up. Are you using filters bye the way?

Ok is it easy enough to strip apart & clean, would I have to actually remove the motor to do it? Also to answer your question do you the mean the metal mesh filters if so then yes I am using them.

I suppose it depends on your abilities, personally I would say yes but I have years of experience of doing that sort of thing. Yes you will need to remove the motor.

In my experience it's often the fan itself - they can split and need repair, or can come loose and jam. Does it spin freely when worked by hand?

I haven’t tried to spin it by hand yet, would taking those nuts off help in getting to the blades to try?

I can see the fan vanes in pic #4. Stick a thin thing through the grille and see if it spins freely. If not, it needs to come apart. It doesn't work, so you cant make it any worse, just get stuck in and try and fix it.
