Hi all,

Is it allowed to build kitchen in a conservatory? I do not have a conservatory right now. Just thinking to get one done. Not sure about regulations.

If anybody has experience please let me know.

Googling for 'kitchen' and 'conservatory' returns no results, suggesting that it probably isn't.

Oh, wait a minute...

There is no rule preventing a kitchen in a conservatory, but to use a conservatory as a kitchen, it will most likely need to conform to thermal efficiency standards - which are hard to achieve but not impossible.

Although there wouldn't be anything to prevent a home owner using a whole house calculation to offset the reduced thermal efficiency of the conservatory.

It's just classed as a highly glazed extension, any decent technician will have no probs ensuring it complies with all the necessary Regs. But if you think you can employ a conservatory builder to knock up some crappy upvc conservatory and expect Building Regs sign off you're on a hiding to nothing.
