Kitchen sink basket wastes

These come with a top and bottom washer. Is that usually enough to seal ok. Or is the addition of clear silicone advisable?

Some add silicone but I've never found it necessary.

I use a thin line of silicone on the bottom washer where it seals against the sink.

I found it’s worth adding a dollop of sealant, especially withe the mcalpine ones which seem to leak after a good few months

If the underside of the sink waste is clear of it's sticker and stuff then I've never found it necessary to add anything.

A little smidging of clear silicone on the lower seal wouldn't cause any issue though and give a belt 'n' braces if required.
