kitchen unit lights

Hi New here and need bit of advice, Can I plug in to a wall socket with a 5 amp plug and then go into a fused spare, then take two cables from the fused spare one to each kitchen unit light, if this is possible do I need 1.0m cable or will the cable supplied with the light units be ample.

You're not meant to ...

Granted, if this is all done in 1mm flex then it could be classed as a portable appliance but its not ideal as your light fittings will be fixed equipment.

If your going to do it then - use the flex to connect from the plug top to a fused spur unit (gland in and out and fit a 3 amp fuse), from the spur to the first light fitting then make a parallel supply from the first to the second light fitting.

The best way is to incorporate the circuits into the fixed wiring.

You cannot install a fused spur and power it by plugging it into a socket, so the answer tom your question is a resounding NO

if you were to use an ordainairy plug you could use a 3 amp fuse, no extra spur required

Hi Breezer but if I need to go to two different wall units on two different walls exp: one wall unit left of the socket and the other wall unit right of the same socket, ( does that make any sense m8)
