Kitchen worktop joints

I have just cut the joint with a router & need to know if any or what type of sealant should be applied to the ends of the worktop before they are clamped together.

Can anyone please help & advise?

Are you using worktop colour sealant as this acts as an adhesive?
Evostick impact will set nice and tight.
The clamps are suffice to hold the joint, you can also use biscuit joints to make it extremely secure, usually on an unsupported island or overhang.

I need to sort the sealant out today.
Is the coloured worktop sealant just coloured silicon or is there a special type for worktops?

Not sure, it is less viscous than standard silicone so it gets into tight gaps. They flog it at all the sheds for about £10.

I always use low modulus silicone.

Mainly to make the joint watertight and prevent the laminate blowing if water should get in, like near the sink.

I also use quick drying varnish on the cutout under the sink to prevent water swelling the chipboard should water get underneath
