We have converted an existing small building to a one bed dwelling, we are using a Klargester compact pump to get rid of waste and effluent as its 60m from the mains sewer.

I have been told today by the klargester rep that we need a 24 hour storage system as well, the building regs we passed without this on the plans so not sure why now they are telling us this?

Any one know whos right?

Is this a precaution - in the event of a pump failure there is sufficient storage to enable the property to still be used?

With Mono Mutrators a minimum of 24 hours is advised in case of power failure.

Pump failure may require more storage if spare parts are needed.

ALso consider access for a pump out tanker in the event of a prolonged loss of pump / power.

In reality 24 hours storage is totally insufficient.

If it fails on a Saturday you are not likely to get an engineer until Monday at the earliest.

He may not have the required parts when he comes either.

So 3 days would be a sensible minimum storage.
