I need one because theres no mains sewer.
Our current system is a septic tank believed to be around 50 years old and its in a bad way,needing emptying around every 8 weeks.
The cost of setting up a new system isnt really much less than putting a biodisc in once the hassle factor is added,and once completed theres still isnt enough ground here for a sufficient soakaway.I did a porosity test on the soil in May and it failed the minimum spec.
The effluent is more than likely finding its way into the stream at the bottom of the garden.......
The Environment Agency really dont like you using septic tanks let alone building new ones.
Biodiscs apparently use the same power of a light bulb and produce high quality effluent which is favorable to the Authorities.With an appropriate licence from said 'Feds' the fluid can be discharged into a watercourse which would be dead handy for me.
So - anyone seen or got one?

thanks masona -all waste pipes go to the septic tank via the 4" underground pipe..Wer'e out in bandit country and have no mains drainage (calor gas cooker and oil-fired heating are the norm out here)
Electricity and a 39k net connection is an added luxury..........
My problem is the means of getting rid of effluent.The macerator you mention is fine within itself but the matter it produces still needs to be disposed of legally.
Ive had two drainage specialists out and both conclude the current septic tank is beyond economical repair.The modern replacement for the septic tank is the Klargester which is favoured by the EA as its effluent output is only just short of drinking water quality. So it seem to be the only way out I can see.
