That were already the dregs of their party. As is importing the failed torey front bench to double your MPs

Imagine if you applied the same rhetoric to the Tory changes of leadership? It’s a shame SKS didn’t call a general election to allow his replacement to secure a mandate to lead.

5 GEs in 8 years. Two of them within 6 weeks, it would have been a farce, sorry more of a farce than it already was.![]()
You do know that the door you keep shoving is already completely open? Everyone accepts that the tories were terrible by every measure.Imagine if you applied the same rhetoric to the Tory changes of leadership?

It must be tempting to throw your toys out of the pram and go for a GE, the one thing that Burnam couldn't control, but in the end the party was bigger than his ego. I suppose his legacy is one of the biggest majority's in parliamentary history, never lost an election, never been challenged in a leadership contest. It’s a shame SKS didn’t call a general election to allow his replacement to secure a mandate to lead.
Burnam’s in a remarkable position where a bloke wins a byelection and is crowned leader and PM with out a contest or tested policies. He cannot change the state of tne economy which is driven by world events. Apart maybe from exerting a restraining influence on the bond markets, and reducing/removing the triple lock (yeah right). So it’s a popularity contest with Farrage. And each time it happened, Labour said there must be a general election

There is no way re form voters shifted to Burnam to get Starmmer out. Unless they were being stupid.

Personality contests in politics refer to the phenomenon where elections and leadership debates are driven by a candidate's personal charisma, likability, or media image rather than substantive policy debates. This trend—often described as the "personalization of politics"—has become a heavily discussed topic in modern elections.
Personality Politics is the usual basis for voting among Populist voters. The political policies are judged on the candidates personality, so gifted liars will become popular and be elected.

A new thread because Andy seems set to take over. It’s somewhat arrogant to expect a coronation when your plans for the country haven’t been properly scrutinised by party members. I hope the PM gives him a run for his money.

apart from high taxation and Mandleson, Starmer will disappear into the mists of time without any major accomplishmentshis legacy
