iam thinking of fitting a laminate floor in my living room and hall. its a new concrete floor what sort of underlay would i require. And is it easy to do and with what tools???

Firstly, your floor must be dry. Cut a square of polythene 1mx1m, tape it to the floor ensuring that the edges are sealed. Leave if for a day or two and then lift it to make sure there is no condensate on the polythene. Repeat until the floor is completely dry.
Cover the floor in polythene or damp proof membrane, no need to seal the edges. Lay a roll of under floor foam, specially made for laminate flooring, this is usually about 3mm thick. Lay laminate on top of this.
Tools required:
Stanley knife, pencil, tape measure, good fine saw preferably a mitre saw of some sort to give good straight cuts. Wedges for around the edges to give the expansion gap prior to filling with cork strip. Hammer, block to knock up the laminate strips. A big tub of patience.
