I have looked and found some threads but none that answer the question

Daughter has cats and wants to replace her hall, stairs and landing carpet. Hall will be vinyl plank to match the lounge but the stair…. she has looked at oak overlays and they are out of budget but have found these which say you can use standard laminate

has anyone any experience of using them?

Cats are really noisy on laminate (the click click click from their claws) and you can have fun making them 'spin out' with careful use of a laser pointer.
No experience of laminate on stairs but very smooth, almost slippery tread surface doesn't sound like a good idea to me.

Eh, cats don't make any noise on our wooden floors.

Completely agree about a laminate on the stairs though, not a good idea.

Rubber matting would be a non-slip stair covering.

Thinking about it yes you are right, my cat is silent on timber and laminate (except when she lands from a windowsill leap). Two of the cats I catsit occasionally give that click click noise on laminate.
