Hi

Is it possible/ advisable to use an off cut of a laminate worktop as a substitute for supporting the actual worktop in one place. It'll have to be sealed against water ingress but I wondered about its strength for this purpose as it'll effectively be on its end. It'd either be at the end o a run to add continuity or in between a washing machine and dishwasher. Any advice great fully received. Cheers.

Are you intending to drop it vertically to the floor or screw it to a wall or something. It'll easily take the weight, but IMO it'll look a bit odd.

I've seen this done before and it generally looks like a dogs dinner, but that being said, budget dictates, as long as you set it back from.the front edge of the worktop by 10mm to get away from the round on the post form edge and scribe it to the floor then you will have better chance of a better finish.

Seal the cut edges with two coats of varnish to protect from water ingress.

Thanks all. Plan was to drop it vertically to floor and attach at floor and rear wall. I don't think I'll use it for the end panel now just the interim ones and set it back as suggested. It's one of those butchers block type designs so thought it may look good on end rather than a plain end panel. Cheers
