landlord electrical test???

hi guys
one of my customer rents out 18 propertys, the letting agent says that there 3 & 4 bed property need to be tested every 5 years!!
is this correct?
ifso what test/safety checks will be carried out?
can any sparks do it?
or will they have to be with one of the part P companys?

He should have experience ofPIRs (Periodical Inspection & Testing) and ideally hold C&G 2391.
He doesn't have to be Part P registered.

IIRC there are no mandatory requirements but estate agents often make thier own rules and in the case of HMOs (houses in multiple occupation, mainly places with three or more bedrooms that are rented to groups rather than a familiy) the council can too.

I would ask the agent what type of certification they want.
