Lap top crash , please any help

Hi Folks help needed,

Last night while playing poker on my latop a message appeared to remind me about updating my anti virus which has now expired,, i clicked remind me later .A new message appeared then stating system failure and Trojan virus count to which the laptop started realling offf search after search untill it crashed and went blank.Now when i start up the pass is given and only the black screen appears.

Any ideas or is it DEAD

can you boot into safe mode?

press f8 whilst it is booting.

do you have a recovery disc?

Yes it will boot into safe mode, sometimes the screen goes blank with safe mode displayed in the 4 corners and some times it runs through list of programs maybe half way through before it stops.

F8 i`ll be pressing that and off searching for the recovery disk...
