Laying a Carpet Stone Circle on Existing Lawn Area

Morning All

I have a small area of 1300mmx1250mm in between my Decked area and my shed that I have decided I would like to have as a stoned area to place my BBQ on.(Photo attached of Area)

What is the best approach for laying it? Do I really need hardcore and whacker plates or can I get away with an alternative smaller hardcore and sand bed?

Any advice would be welcomed

If you dont want to go the full route of 75-100mm ofhardcore then 30-50mm of bedding then you could just lay them on 50mm of decent mortar.

What do you intend to lay? flags? block paving etc?
