Hi all,

I am currently working on our downstairs bathroom. We are bringing the floor level up to match the other floors in our house. I have laid all the concrete blocks just below the required height. I now want to lay Hardibacker on top of the concrete blocks.

My questions are:

Should I lay the Hardibacker on to a thin layer on mortar prior to using Hardibacker screws to anchor the board down?

I keep reading about “thin set” but I can’t find out what “thin set” is, what is “thin set”

Any help anyone can give would be great

Many thanks

Thinset is what the Yanks stick down their tiles with. We call it tile adhesive.
