get yourself a leadlock fitting they normally either go to 15mm or 1/2 bsp be carefull not to leave a long dead leg cut it back as short as you can you might have to take a small peice of the lead with you as there are 3 sizes
Make sure the lead is burr free after you cut it, lead lock depends on a rubber o-ring as part of the seal, cut this with a bit of sharp lead and your sunk till you get a new o-ring.....
Just to add- I need to blank off / cap off and then hopefully plaster over. The pipe comes out of kitchen wall and fed old outside lavi - victorian house.
