There is no cavity, its solid brick. Yes it looks like a steel lintel (was already there). I'll try and get a roofer to take a look...

Looks like a cavity wall - stretcher bond. There looks like 1 row of creasing tiles under the soldier course. AFAIK there should be 2 so you get a bond . I personally would sheet over the window and frame and soak all the brickwork with a damp repellent then see what happens . Cheap and it either works or it don't
