Hi and sorry if this has been answered before - I have searched but found nothing similar.

I have a slimline toilet cistern. The flush mechanism is all plastic and the ball valve seems to be polystyrene which can be adjusted by screwing it up or down a plastic screw.

The cistern started leaking into the bowl this morning via the overflow. I've had the cover off but being a complete beginner don't know what each bit is for and what to do about the leak.

Any advice would be really appreciated.

Thank you

Plumber's merchant ;).

The float might be polystyrene, but the valve will be plastic.

Best take it (or at least a picture of it ) with you.

Turn the water off and undo the nut and back nut that hold the pipe to the valve and the valve to tge cistern - assuming it is side entry.

But you are entering the territory of "if you have to ask, you shouldn't touch ".

Ah - OK then... thanks for the advice.

Didn't want to have to call the professionals but guess I should then.

Cheers Dan.
