Leaking Pop-Up Sink Waste

Hi there,

I installed a new pop-up sink waste yesterday, but it is leaking from the rubber seal beneath the sink as shown in the image below, even though I've tightened up the waste upper until it can't tighten anymore - Do I need to seal it with silicone?

Cheers Andy, just got one on order - Will this replace the plastic seal compressed up against the ceramic lip of the basin?

He`s already got the basin , mate : . get some red lead putty round it .
