Good morning,

I have recently moved into an old house, with solid brick walls. The picture here shows a small roof above our front door.

When it rains, we have noticed the water makes it through the wall behind the wall paper in the living room. Not too much, but enough to "bloat" the wall paper. When the rain stops, it soon dries up.

I am no expert, but looking at the roof here, the tiles are old, but along the edge, its very mossy and I expect a groove has formed between the roof and the wall.

Other than replace the roof and re-seal, is there anything I can do with this?

Firstly, that down comer is spewing rain water just where you don't want it to be......consider extending it so it empties directly into the gutter.
Keep the gutter and outlet clean at all times.
Clean the grot away from where the slates touch the wall, and consider whether a layer of silicone sealant or a cement fillet would help.
Once it's clean, give us a close up photo of the join?
John :)
