Hi all again. I have the issue as above.

I have done some web research on this but don't seem to have a definitive answer. Basically I have a leak from the back of the FRIDGE side that accumulates on the floor of that side and leaks out when the fridge door is opened. All the solutions I have read so far relate to the leak being on the FREEZER side. There is no leakage/ice on the floor of the freezer side.

I have tried to follow those instructions anyway that suggest taking the rear panel off in the FREEZER side and defrosting the drainhole. I cannot get the rear panel off. Despite loosening all the screws, I still have the rear panel unable to move and I am reluctant to use force in fear of damage (is there a knack to this?)

Is there potentially another reason why the leak would be on the fridge side and not the freezer side.

Thanks for reading.

Steve

One thing to check.
Condensation that appears in fridge then goes frosty, then thaws and runs down the back of the inside of your fridge is normal. There will be a hole that drips go down and out the bottom to a plastic tray which is near the pump. The heat then evaporates the water.
Check hole is clear.
Check water in falling in tray.
Check tray isn't cracked or some other problem

It might be stuck with ice. Defrosting the unit should free the panel. It might also solve the leak issue if the drain hole is blocked with ice.

I leave a bit of thin, stiff wire in the drain tube, so it's easy to clear it out regularly. The drain tube hole, is at the rear, usually at the base of a V shape which collects, and funnels the water down the drain.

Maybe worth checking the evaporator isn't full of gunge as can happen.

Thanks all for those replies, one thing I have not gotten to the bottom of yet is, if the leak is showing in the base of the fridge section, is it the rear panel of the fridge section that needs to come off and the drain hole checked. Other threads I have read suggest that it is the rear panel of the freezer side that needs to be removed (even though the leak appears from the rear of the fridge side.) Thanks again to all.

No disassembly at all, should be needed. Look for a V channel, with at the bottom corner of the V, a drain hole. Behind the drain hole, a short pipe leading out the rear of the fridge, to a sort of sump container, by the motor. Idea is, any moisture drains out, and is evaporated by the heat from the motor. Poke a bit of wire through the above pipe, to clear it, and ensure it can drain. If it becomes obstructed, it will overflow.

Ah thanks !! I have to admit access to the rear of the unit is tricky, it is a 'snug fit' between two kitchen cabinets, but not impossible. Thanks again.

OK No need to shout !!:LOL::LOL:. I may be a touch thick, but cannot see anything like you describe inside the fridge - see piccy.
