I share a roof with my neighbors. Two years ago they replaced the old roof with a new one on their side. I would have happily shared the cost of a replacement on my side but wasn’t consulted. Would a leak from their side happen immediately. Theirs is still used as a garage but mine was converted to extend into my kitchen many years ago. My roof is old and will need replacing very soon but it didn’t leak before but has developed a leak this winter. I have attached photos. My roof is on the left. Thank you.

A roof can leak at any time, it can leak from day one or at anytime during it's lifespan. I'd say you dodged a bullet not using their roofing contractor, it looks a bit of a mess and standing water is a no-no if the roof's not been done well. If your roof is on borrowed time then it's only a matter of time before it fails anyway, if it hasn't already. Do they have any leaks in their garage?

He says he doesn’t have any leaks. I agree about the job done. It looks as if he’s raised it in the corner so the water is now running and staying on my side. It has started leaking inside my house. I never had any issues before.
