I’ve installed a couple of ultra-low-flush toilets – they work well and save, ball park figure, maybe a cubic metre of water a month. However once in a while they both fail to reseal properly after flushing, and leave water pouring down into the pan. It doesn’t happen often – maybe once every week or two – but if it isn’t spotted, it’s the equivalent of leaving a tap running full-on, and can very soon waste far more water than I’m saving. I replaced one of the mechanisms, but the replacement has exactly the same problem.
I’d like to replace both with the old-fashioned siphonic mechanisms that avoid this fault, but can’t find one for a push-button, rather than lever-operated, cistern. Do they exist? Or is there a push-button mechanism that’s reliable? Or any other solution?
