Leaky sink waste fix ?

Hi, my sink waste is dripping from the thread of the waste.
Looks like it's not completely straight in the sink.

Should I remove it and add some kind of sealant and wrap ptfe tape round the thread?

Or buy a new one ?
If so what's a decent one that won't leak please ?
