If you have an Android phone, Smart Tools is a very useful program for detecting angles and levels

One function, superimposes an angle measure or plumb-line on to the screen when used in camera mode, and lets you check the angle of what you are looking at - walls, roofs, rafters etc. Lots of other levelling and measuring functions too

I only mentioned the use of a laser as a previous poster was suggesting a plumb line may not be easy to use in this instance. Windy conditions would present problems for a plumb line. Lasers are very useful for checking if things are in a straight line as I am sure most people know.

Also, I will be grateful if some of you will moderate the languge and tone of your posts. This is not a building site, but a moderated British public forum.
