LED bulbs with extractor fans - not spinning when light is switched on.

I have 2 light fittings in different rooms (utility and toilet) that are both linked to extractor fans (timer version). They are identical 3 bulb fittings and have some cheap GU10 LED bulbs in all of theme. The problem I have is that when the light is on, the fans both struggle to turn. They turn very slowly (perhaps one revolution every couple of seconds). But then when I turn the light off, the fan spins normally for whatever is left on the timer until it switches off. Looking online there is little information on this problem. There is quite a bit on LED bulbs causing a problem that leaves the fan going permanently but that isn't the issue here. I don't have any incandescent bulbs to try, but I'm assuming if they were, the problem would go away. I've put in some good quality LEDs and get the same problem. I'm reluctant to switch back to incandescent from LED but it appears the LED are not compatible with the extractor fans for some reason. Is it down to their low voltage?

That sounds like wiring problem rather than the type of bulbs.
I'm trying to imagine what would happen if the neutral connection at the light is going to the the fan switched live, instead of being an actual neutral.
I think you need to post photos of the switch, the light and the fan wiring.
