Thanks for your reply B-A-S but could you go just a little bit further than (yes)as your answer to my query like telling me how. :!:

You'll get used to it.
I'm betting that he means the lights have two modes that they can operate in:-
ON and OFF, so they can remain in either of those modes……….

You need to help a bit more.
Your question is a bit like "What colour can a car be?"

Any chance you can reveal the make and model of these patio lights?

Could you go just a little bit further and tell us which specific LED out of the millions on the market you have. It saves a heck of a lot af mind reading and guess work for us.

Disconnect the supply to them, then they will be fixed in one mode.

This is absolutely guaranteed to work 100% of the time with any type of LED lights.

Didn't consider that.

After posting I did wonder about going back and adding "except in the presence of ionising radiation", but the moment passed.

Taylortwocities. I have no info on make etc as the lights were retrieved during a refurb on a local pub.The lights are fitted with a normal plug and a multi mode selector (Christmas lights type). My query was can i fix these to remain in one mode and if so how.?

multi mode selector (Christmas lights type).
With that information likely yes. Or at least I could don't know your skills. In the main the base LED has three wires power to one pair gives one colour power to another pair gives second colour and power to all three gives third colour.

Step one involves some reverse engineering only once you have worked out how they work now can you alter how they work. But manufactures don't like people doing reverse engineering so often everything is encapsulated one to stop reverse engineering and two as a heat sink.

And these light strips are often so cheap not worth playing with.

Bit confused -

Presumably with a 'multi-mode selector' you can indeed 'fix them to remain in one mode'.

Some use a single push button to cycle through the various modes. A few "remember" the mode when they switch off and will start in the required mode when powered up. Many start in mode 0 when powered up, and there isn't any way to change them and make them remember what they were doing when turned off.
